My first Dane was Clausentum Hamlet and was purchased from Miss Jean Lanning in 1987. I had finally managed to persuade my family to let me get a Dane after many years of ear ache and I believe at a weak moment they said yes.
My parents and one of my brothers trooped off to Miss Lanning to pick up our new bundle and Hamlet came home with us and became the start of our Danes.
Hamlet as you will see from this site was the first of many and also introduced us to the world of dog showing which with every hobby has shown us great highs and lows but I have been luckier than most and the highs have most certainly out numbered the lows.
The success of the Tantallon Kennel owes at lot to other top breeders such as Mickey Ramsay of Drumview, Di Bousfield of Yacanto, Judith Greig of Turlum, Jenny Roberts of Arondyke, the Late John Hunter of Khunrath, Fran Lass of Lagarada (USA), Victor & Zena Place of Danelyne (Australia) and also not forgetting my mum Elwin Cooke without whom none of the successes could have been achieved at all.
This Tantallon affix was picked due to my Scottish ancestry and we felt that the meaning summed up our hopes and ambitions.
Tantallon is proud to be a founder member of the Kennel Clubs Accredited Breeder Scheme, this means among other things, that all breeding stock will be health tested and have a DNA profile. See the Puppies page for more details.
I hope you enjoy looking at the attached pages which charts the history of the Tantallon Danes if you have any questions please feel free to email.
